Transport Business Benefiting From Latest GPS Systems
The newest technology in Sat Nav devices is providing lots of companies with information they previously could only dream about. Sat Navs and GPS tools of old could only let the driver know about their locations, which directions to take and speed etc. This is the kind of data that can now be read on a computer screen on the other side on the globe, making everyone’s job easier. A taxi company or travel business for instance would benefit enormously. Here we take a closer look at what they can do
Speeding. Not only can they tell the driver how fast the vehicle is going, but they can also tell an operator. A number of the top devices even tell you if the vehicle is being accelerated or braked too hard. This helps companies establish who is driving well and within the law, and who maybe needs more driving training
Petrol. Stats released by Jump The Sun show that drivers, especially in the taxi business, would claim petrol money from their employers for miles that were covered whilst not on work hours. Employers could previously look at the tachometer of the vehicle but drivers would argue that they had to take a longer route due to traffic etc. There is now no room for argument though as bosses can see what miles were covered, on which roads and at what time of the day. The latest traffic information can also be fed into them
Location. Drivers can get to a new location much faster and more efficiently when their locations are mapped by a central operator. Calls don’t now have to put out to all drivers to discover their current position, the operator can simply check their computer and dispatch the vehicle which is closest.

How Would We Do Without The Van?
The van is something that is a lot more important than a lot of people think. The van is used for a lot of different reasons, keeping goods cold, keeping tools safe and transporting goods are just some of them. So what would all of these people do without their vans?
A lot of businesses would have never come into existance as without the vans they could not operate.
The Good Ol Fashioned Delivery Firms
Delivery firms like Parcel Force, UPS and more importantly for the UK, The Royal Mail. You would start to recieve your mail even less then you do now, The red vans the Royal Mail are famous for are certainly needed? They would really struggle to deliver anything at all. UPS and Parcel Force would be non existent as they specialize in the larger packages and without their vans it would become very difficult to deliver such things.
An End To Music?
Nothing is ever going to put a stop to music as a whole but you would start to see a fall in artists because many of them start out by using a van as it is often the cheapest and easiest way for bands to get around in to begin with.
A Postitive To This?
There are so many criminals out there that choose to the van as the vehicle in which to commit crimes with. Would this really make a lot of difference to the crimes that are committed?
Of course the obvious answer to all of this is, why not just drive a lorry? Time and money come into it as you have to take another driving test before you are qualified to drive a lorry. The lorry can not actually fit into many of the smaller roads which is one of the reasons that the van was invented in the first place.
Conclusion
Well it is obvious that without the invention of the van some people would be well and truly stuffed.
Small van leasing as well as commercial contract hire and van contract hire have further helped van users to save money when thinking about a new van.
Vans Help Out Bands
Whenever you see newish bands that haven’t quite got to the top of the charts yet you will almost always spot a small van outside of the gig that will contain both the band and all of their equipment. But just how important is a van the group?
Dogs were thrown out in the early days of touring as the van became the best friend to many groups simply because they are cheap and easy to run. The reason why the big bands have the huge tour buses is because they have the money to do so or they get sponsered by big companies who know they will get money out of it. A lot of the smaller groups are not able to gain access to the big tour buses because sponsors are only interested in making a return from their investment.
A lot of the time the van will be provided to the band by a member of one of the families or they will chip in towards the cost. Once again is can be very difficult to buy a van outright even if there are three or more people paying for it so more often than not bands will look into van leasing UK because it works out cheaper.
The band then have any damages or accidents covered too so they do not have to take out any extra things they do not need like the band that took out pick up truck leasing just to cover them if the worst case scenario happened.
Although cheap van leasing is likely to be the best option for your band, it is also possible to get a van to run on vegetable oil which of course will save the band on fuel costs. The only real problem with this is that you need a trailer full of the stuff to keep you going for the duration of the tour.
Destroying Your Van
This list consists of just a few ways to destroy a van. This article is not supposed to encourage people to do this kind of thing and it just up here as a joke so please do not try any of this unless of course you want to die a very painful death.
Why not Blow it Up
This one is a great one to start off with as there are so many things that you can use to blow up the van with! Using TNT is a good idea because believe it or not it is safe because you can detonate it from a distance. The only place that any of this would be legal is under testing conditions in a television program or something like that. Other things you could perhaps use include a grenade, machine gun or even shooting the gas tank.
Why Not Roll It Over
This is one of the hardest ones to do without getting hurt because you really have to be driving it for it to happen. Many movies have cars and vans that roll over to kill or injure some of the people, sometimes it is just for effect. One of the most important things to remember from this is that the vans are often custom made and designed to roll over many times. If you were to roll over a normal van then it you would certainly die.
Crash It
This of course is the most common way to wreck a van due to the fact that there are many van crashes across the world every single day. Many people are killed because of this and although vans are designed to stop death in the event of a crash the design will not protect you in the event of a real crash. This is something that should be left to the dummies.
So there you have it, just a few things you shouldn’t do with your contract hire vans. Commercial vehicle leasing and contract van leasing companies would not be interested in giving you cheaper deals if you are planning to do these things.
Of course you really shouldn’t attempt any of this because “You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!”
Postal Service- Need More Vans
Without the vans that the post office have it is true to say they would be in even bigger trouble than they are now. With the Royal Mail in ruins and once again on strike it begs the question, how on earth do they deliver the mail on a normal day, let alone the days in which they strike on. This is how it is really meant to work.
Well what is supposed to happen is that the postman will receive a load of letters and parcels to deliver to the various roads he has been assigned to. When he gets to a certain point in his route one of the famous red postal vans will show up. When the van pulls up the driver will unload the next lot of mail for the worker to use in the next lot of roads he needs to deliver in. Why is it that it is never on time?
The time is actually something that is important here. Postman are not allowed to start as early as they used too which is partly why we do not get our post until at the very earliest 1pm every single day. This is actually rather terrible as in the old days you used to recieve two lots of post in the same day. This was actuallythe entire purpose of 1st and 2nd mail. The 1st lot was also meant to arrive at your door before you left for work in the morning.
It is considered lucky to have the post before you get home from work nowadays.
With postal strikes still occuring it has become very clear that the Royal Mai are not up to the job. The Queen is still sticking to her guns and sending post out via the Royal Mail but does anyone actually care what she thinks?
Would it be easier for smaller company’s to look into getting van leasing UK or van contract hire to get ahead of the Royal Mail? Commercial vehicle leasing has allowed many people to start up businesses because it would seem it is cheaper than buying the vehicle outright.
Aavans.com Crash Testing Wheelchair Vans
Aavans.com Crash Testing and Wheelchair Vans
The mobility industry is an interesting one, for many reasons, but mainly because it’s somewhat elusive. What I mean is that information is sometimes difficult to gather. For this post, I will concentrate on crash testing because it is interesting to look at differences between buying a regular vehicle and buying a converted van for wheelchair accessibility.
When you shop for a regular vehicle, let’s say a Honda Odyssey minivan, do you question whether the vehicle has passed all the government safety requirements? Probably not, I never have. I have purchased 4 cars in my life and never once asked if the vehicle had been crash tested. It is something I think the majority of us just assume, that the vehicle we are buying has been crash tested, and has passed.
Did you know that all modifiers of vehicles, like VMI, have to re-crash the vans we build after they are modified. Since we change the structure of the original vehicle, by cutting off the floor, NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) requires the van be crash tested again.
When you are shopping for wheelchair accessible vans, ensure the van you are looking at passes all NHTSA crash test requirements. This especially becomes important when shopping the manufacturers who sell wheelchair vans direct and don’t use a network of Mobility Equipment Dealers. How do you verify that these companies have passed all federal regulations in terms of crash testing the van?I would first contact NMEDA (National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association) and determine what is required. I would then contact the manufacturer of the van you are looking at purchasing and ask them

Vans In Cartoons (Part 2)
The list is ever growing, here are the next lot on the list that have had something to do with a vans, some are obvious, some are weirds and some are just plain wrong.
All of these cartoons are very competitive on the viewings and the ratings, which one do you prefer watching. There haven’t been many van appearances in them but when there have, they have been pretty funny.
The Anchor Van- Simpsons
Kent Brockman is the guy with the job of having to sit in this van while it goes around to the spots in which the news needs to be reported. Although Brockman is never seen inside the van itself his team are always in there giving him all of the quirky comments he apprently comes up with.
Surveillance Van- Family Guy
The van has only ever featured in one episode of the series and was used to listen in on a conversation between Lois and an ex. Peter is of course thinking that Lois is having an afair with her ex when in reality she has just gone to the local coffee shop for a drink. Peter thinks his marriage is in ruins but doesnt listen to the conversation from the start and it is his jealously that causes the row.
Anyone For Ice Cream- South Park
There have been a lot of vans in this series simply because it has gone on for such a long time, the best one has to be this one. The van was really only seen once and was used for one of many ways that the show has killed off Kenny.
There it is, the best cartoons vans that have ever come into existance. Let us just hope that these toons looked into commercial van leasing for their vans to save a bit of money. Van contract hire could actually be a better way to use a van as it is a lot cheaper than buying one outright.
Vans In Cartoons (Part 1)
There are actually quite a few cartoons out there that feature cartoon characters that drive, own or have something to do with a van and many of them are tuned in by millions a day. Some of these are made for the smaller generations and some of these havent seen any real success in the cartoon world in a lomg while. Here are the ones that I could think of.
The Infamous Mystery Machine
This has to be the top van out of all of the cartoon vans. When you think of a van in a cartoon then this has to be the one that comes into the mind at first. Believe it or not Scooby Doo is actually forty years old this year as it was first screened in 1969! The show is obviously still going strong and has not lost the original design at all, there are still many monsters to be caught. The monster always seems to be someone in disguise, where are the real monsters!. I wonder if the gang have the van on Van lease
The Classic Postman Pat
This is actually a British creation which is partly why it is in the list, the other reason is because it was first aired in 1981 and was loved so much that they have brought back a newer series which started in 2006. This show was aimed mainly at the younger age group and both me and all of my friends were big fans when we were younger. One of the best things about Postman Pat is that he is actually able to deliver all of his post on time even when helping various people out!
Cheap vehicle contracts has really got to be something that many of these cartoons had thought of when they purchased the vans.
Which has the best van in the popular South Park, Family Guy and South Park series, read part two to find out. Small van leasing is key for the next part.
Police Target White Vans
It would seem that the white van is the main van that the police track for criminal activity but why is this?
Well to start with, over the past few years the white van has been the accomplice to many criminals from burglaries and theft to abductions and even rape. What is the reasoning behind criminals choosing a white van?
Well over the years the vehicle of the criminal has changed and it would seem that the modern times have chosen the white van. Here are just two of the vehicles that have been at the top for criminals over the past eighty years or so.
Ford V8 B-400
This is of course the most famous of the criminal cars because it was the model that the famous outlaws Bonnie and Clyde used to rob banks, small stores and gas stations. If you take a look at this car you automatically think mafia or of the guys from wacky races.
1966 Chevrolet Impala
This was the choice of a deadly serial killer back in the 1960’s. The murderer is not known as he has only ever been indentified by the car. He only preyed on people that were inside cars, a bit strange. It was reported by several victims and also drawn out several times. He murdered five people and attempted to do it to another seven.
It would certainly seem that the times change over the years and that criminals are always looking for a certain vehicle in which they can use to help them commit crimes. The van seems to be chosen because it is suitable for any criminal activity which is the only downside to the vehicle.
Of course the plus side is that the van has helped out thousands perhaps even millions of people in their everyday lives. commercial van leasing has helped even further by providing affordable means of getting hold of a van. Citroen van leasing and Mercedes Van Leasing are just some of the options out there to choose from.
Van Use in the UK Has Risen
It is without doubt that more people are interested in purchasing a van than they used to be. In fact over the past decade the sale of vans here in the UK has risen by 40% but why is this?
Could it be to do with the fact that there is much more van contract hire going on than there used to be or is it something else?
Well a major reason that we have seen a massive growth in the sales of vans is because there are more and more companies that are in need of them. Major companies like Sky and BT purchase huge quantities of these vans every year because of the growing need for their services. The same goes for any company that delivers items to someone.
The internet has really kicked off in the last ten years and this is especially true when it comes to e-commerce sites. You can also blame the Royal Mail for all of this because they are incapable of delivering a letter on time let alone packages,. So the need for vans goes up even more.
Vans are also on the increase because major companies are putting more money into developing them. More companies are being set up that will let people get into fiat van leasing and Iveco van leasing which is actually cheaper than buying a van.
Vans are actually also very practical with many now having more than just the two seats and can be used for transporting any goods. The problem is that vans are also associated with many crimes such a kidnapping and burglary and both of these have been on the increase too.
The majority of vans are of course used for the right reasons and with “greener” vans on the horizon they can only really continue to grow.
