I have the sudden urge to get all existential…so I will.

There are certain things that will never change in this universe, regardless of time or tide. British summer-times will always be grey affairs permeated occasionally by a pathetic ray of sun, Pease Porridge is a dish that will never be eaten by anyone south of Carlisle and Bob Geldof will always be a self-righteous crab with more in common, genetically, with a than a human being. Amongst all this irretrievably crushing monotony there is one constant that refuses to disappoint and continues to delight; the simple pleasure of driving a Used Ford car.

Ford have always been inherently capable of producing cars that exceed expectation in almost every conceivable category it is possible to evaluate a car by. The engines are always high performing, but economical and ecological. The handling is always amazingly pin-point precise and the envy of many ‘higher-brand’ manufacturers. The very experience of being sat in a Ford is a pleasant one, combining comfort and practicality almost effortlessly.

Sadly though, some greedy merchant bankers went a bit OTT recently and now the country is ruined financially. It would be perfectly accurate to say that a Tramp’s soiled hankie is probably worth more than your house right now, so it would also be a fair assumption that you’re not exactly going to be ‘flash for cash’. Therefore it is face-smashing-into-a-brick-wall annoyance when your old motor breaks down for the last time and you realise you need a new one. What are you going to buy a new car with? Magic beans? Pleasant thoughts? Mother-in-law’s homemade crumble??? Not likely. You need a cheap car that is also reliable, stylish, well-performing and has room for the entire family. What a surprise! You’ve found yourself at a used Ford Dealership!

The Ford range has does a pretty good job at catering for all tastes, styles and persuasions of human-life. Are you single? Looking for a nippy little number, with a growly engine, neat looks and cool-points to boot? Look out for a used Ford Fiesta 2.0 ST 3dr Hatchback. Are you married, with two kids and an unquenchable passion for golf? Why not keep your eyes peeled for a Used Ford 2.5 ST 5dr Hatchback. There is also the added bonus of sat-nav, Bluetooth and MP3 Connectivity in some of the Fiesta’s various higher-end trim specifications. The engines are alsosimilar to previous Fiesta incumbents, the 1.25 Litre petrol engine being the standard choice.

As far as drive quality is concerned, the Ford Fiesta is simply unrivalled in its price range. The lightness of steering and eagerness of the engine make this a very enjoyable car to drive, whether you are in the city or motorway. It is, however, at its best when cruising through the city streets, looking and handling confident and assured amongst the various challenges with urban driving.

As there are a great deal of models and trims to choose from, recommending the right Fiesta is a difficult choice. There isn’t a massive amount of performance difference between some of the models, other than slightly more powerful engines. I would recommend that as this is a budget supermini, you keep the spec simple and keep costs down. You will still experience a superb drive and one far superior to the Fiesta’s competition.

Test drive a brand new Ford Fiesta today and you will physically feel its superiority in comparison to the other superminis on the market.

Certain brands, names and suchlike will never go out of fashion, regardless of how time’s withered claw defaces them; let me give you a few choice examples to show you what I mean. You will never be mocked for listening to the music of the Rolling Stones, the Sega Master system will always provide hours of genuine 8-bit entertainment and denim jeans will always be in fashion. Not the same can be said for everything though, which is why it pays to pick your investments. When choosing your long term investment, a car for example, it is beneficial to have some degree of foresight which will allow you to choose a vehicle that won’t leave you looking like a plonker a year down the line. Not everyone has soothsaying abilities, so my recommendation for all of you out there worried about a car that will leave you embarrassed in the not too distant future would be to play it safe. It matters little which Ford car you pick, as in recent years the flagship models (Ka, Fiesta and Focus) have all gone under the surgeon’s knife and come out looking sleeker, sexier and a whole lot more eye-catching. Every design alteration has got the automotive world talking thanks to the influence Ford has over the industry. The introduction of the Ford Ka brought about an automotive revolution, where upon every single manufacturer brought out small, round, bubble-esque models. The recent reinvention of the Ford Fiesta has also got everybody's eyes lighting up thanks to its sportier body shape and bold colour scheme. It seems that whatever comes out of the Ford production line is certified fashionable and remains so until Ford themselves decide otherwise and release a newer model.

Ford have a unique position within the car industry as the ‘taste-makers’, or the opinion formers. This is the equivalent of one particular fashion-house, record label or vineyard decide what the public should wear, listen to, or drink. Yes dear reader, Ford appears to have built up a ‘fashion monopoly’ over a majority the competition and it doesn’t look like there is much anyone can do about it.

Let’s take the New Ford Fiesta as an example: The Vauxhall Corsa came close to rattling Ford’s cage, with a similar desire to create a sporty but affordable hatchback. The Corsa’s only downfall was that it failed to match the extremely high build and ride quality that the Fiesta displayed. The VW Polo also looks the part and feels the part, but the elevated tag price means that a sizeable proportion of the target demographic (who can barely afford to eat a decent meal every night, let alone spend £12,000 on a new car) were dissuaded from the.

Ford certainly doesn’t look like relinquishing its stranglehold on the automotive world in terms of fashion stakes for any time in the foreseeable future. So with that said, it’s very difficult to know exactly how any of the opposing manufacturers plan on snatching the Most Fashion Crown off Ford.

The Brand New Ford Fiesta has been released and there has been plenty of wailing and gnashing of teeth since it first rolled off the forecourts. The overwhelming opinion is that Ford have triumphed, creating a vehicle that supersedes every other similarly priced small hatchback on the market. This isn’t fresh news though; Ford have achieved this virtually every time they have released a newer edition of the Fiesta. Here is a news flash that may surprise some of you out there in the real world: the brand new Ford Fiesta is actually no different to the previous model. Ok, so there are cosmetic differences, but the same engines are available with the same trims. Therefore, now would be an excellent time to find yourself a very cheap Ford Fiesta.

The last Ford Fiesta was an understated affair that essentially looked like a slightly scaled down Ford Focus. It was chunky, sturdy and above all, had the perfect engines to deal with the, often problematic, power/weight ratios. The dinky 1.25 petrol engine was more than enough to render the Fiesta the perfect, zippy town & city mobile. This is where the plot thickens and the bargains rear their heads.

As the new Fiesta was announced, the bottom fell through the international economy and no one was financially capable of buying cars anymore. Stocks built up and thousands upon thousands of vehicles sat in parking areas, just waiting for the chance to be shipped to a dealership forecourt. Like every other vehicle manufacturers, many of the older Ford Fiestas weren’t shipped out before the new edition was available to order.

The crux of my point is that these older Ford Fiestas need to be shifted and dealers who are selling these models are letting them go with ridiculous discounts on them; even more so if you consider a nearly new or ex-demo model.

If you are not too bothered about being on the cusp of fashion then you will be able to find a perfect Ford Fiesta for a lot less than the current new model. In the current economic climate, who can afford to miss a bargain?

Whilst all the fuss surrounding the brand new Ford Fiesta is going on, the savvy and economically minded amongst us have spotted the ideal opportunity to bag ourselves a recession-busting bargain. Anybody who is considering buying a Ford Fiesta in the not-too-distant future is automatically going to hone in on the brand new model. These people are missing out on one of the greatest money-saving bargains available on the car market, but it’s certainly not one that I am going to turn my nose up at.

Now that the entire population are clamouring over themselves to get hold of the new Fiesta, you will find a whole host of the previous model at unbelievable discounts, especially if they are ex-demo or nearly new. The 04-08 model Fiestas are going to have trouble shifting off the forecourts with the brand new model available, so the dealerships are going to start slashing prices like they were in some kind of low-budget 70’s horror film.

This bodes extremely well if you are in the market for a Ford Fiesta, but aren’t concerned with constantly being on the cusp of fashion. As a man comfortable in a wooly jumper and denim, I firmly fit into this category.

The previous Fiesta was an absolute triumph of form and engineering that looked and performed akin to a slightly scaled down Ford Focus. With a plethora of engines and trims available, there is bound to be a used Ford Fiesta to suit everyone’s tastes. The only issue is which Fiestas are available at which dealers? That, my friends, is where the hunting begins.

After scanning the web briefly, I found a whole host of nearly new Ford Fiestas with discounts that almost made my hat fall off. For around £5,000 you can get a 2 year old Fiesta Zetec 1.4litre, with less than 10,000 miles on the clock. Less than a year ago this very model would have been worth almost double that!

If you’re looking for an economical runabout, how about a 1.25Litre Zetec Climate, with less than 16,000 miles on the clock for less than £5,000? The deals you can take advantage of if you look in the right places are superb.

This is a perfect time for first-time car owners as well. A Used Ford Fiesta is the perfect car for new drivers as it combines, safety, practicality, economical driving and looks the part as well. With the initial cost-effective outlay of being a used Ford Fiesta, you can concentrate on using the rest of your cash upgrading the stereo, or paying the ridiculously high insurance rates for new drivers.

Whilst all the posers and trendy-types are queuing up for the new Fiesta, you could get one today, at a fraction of the price, which has practically the same engine and specification as the new model. So unless you are highly concerned about the exterior aesthetic of your car, can you really afford to ignore these bargains.
