Design and Engineering of Exotic Sports Car

Looking for a quality top end car will unavoidably bring any one to the rather good adjective, “exotic”. Exotic food or exotic beauty may be more clearly defined, but what really makes for an exotic sports car?

Sleek and Chic Design

Part of what makes an exotic sports auto is the vehicles’ streamlined, sleek, and smooth designs, all of which serve functional purposes to the final performance of the car albeit being so highly aesthetically pleasing.

Indeed, even exotic sports vehicle makers know emphasis that car fans and racers put on design as such. After all, owning an exotic sports automobile in sharp relief to owning a vehicle is, in itself, a symbol of rank. This standing is endowed not only by the make of the car but also the style and visible appeal.

In fact, companies like Ferrari even employ design houses to come up with their automobile designs. Design powerhouse Pininfarina, for instance, designed the 2002 Ferrari ENZO.

Breakneck Speeds

While design is one of the points to consider of many car enthusiasts, the first characteristic that by-far differentiates a sports vehicle from the rest is its acceleration and maintainable road speed. When it comes to sports cars, it is all a matter of speed, speed, and more speed. A pretty car won’t cut it if it may not deliver the thrilling ride that is expected of each sports automobile.

Exotic vehicles are repeatedly challenging the rate at which a car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph. Designs are starting to be shaped from the engineering wants of the automobile, to suitably deliver a new record speed. As of the moment, the 1994 Dauer 962 LeMans continues to rule with 2.6 seconds. However, with the likes of the 2002 Ferrari ENZO being designed based on the directions of making a fast car, expect faster sports autos in the near future.

One-in-a-Million

Indeed, exotic sports automobiles are not the type that mass produced and you can’t but then “off-the-lot”. Part of its exotic appeal is the fact that you can only have a certain number of models provided for sale. The rarer and more difficult to procure, the larger an auto’s exotic value.

It’s in the Name

Most cars don’t need for visualisation to be called exotic, they just are. These would include your cult sports auto classics-your Porsche, your Ferrari, your Lamborghini.

While an ‘exotic sports car’ may be subjectively outlined over a massive stratum, it is safe to believe that these qualities are more or less held in commonality by any definition. At any rate, one look at an automobile could be enough to offer you a clue.

2009 Mercedes Benz SL63 AMG Roadster. Power at your disposal

Is there a perfect mix between a sports car and a touring vehicle?  Well there didn’t used to be, but the 2009 Mercedes SL63 aimed to change all that.

Upon a first glance many critics were reluctant to accept this new comer as a replacement for the SL55. Some did not like the new look and others were too attatched to the past.

No many sports cars weigh more than 2 tons. However this car is all worth that weight.

SL63 is all serious business when it comes to performance and power: under 4seconds to 60 all thanks to a brutal 500hp engine.Surely a buyer will have high hopes at a price tag of about $150 000.

It’s not just the competition from other car managers that the SL63 had managed to handle in direct comparison.  With the addition of about twenty horses under the hood, the SL63 manages to out do it’s much touted predecessor by about a tenth of a second from zero to sixty and about a tenth of a second in the quarter mile.  This slight advantage (even with the SL63 carrying extra poundage over the SL55), helps put to rest the fear that the latest in the AMG line wouldn’t stack up to the “super” car in the luxury class.

For the same price it is really difficuly to find a competitor as satisfying. The hard top is surely one of the fastest in term of folding down in under 20 seconds.

As expected from any Mercedes Benz the interior is well put together.  Seat adjustments that could accommodate everyone from Jockeys to professional basketball players and everyone in between; a very user friendly, built in navigation system and heated seats complete with neck warmers are just a few of the amenities.

This Mercedes has superior power, superior handling and superior driver comfort – it is far and away the top of its class – in fact, at this moment it’s the only car in its class. This new car makes it difficult for competitors who had any hopes of topping the class.

2009 Aston Martin DBS. Beauty at its best

What a beauty. Even at $250 000 the sheer looks of this car are enough to justify its price.  The sleek, low to the ground, beautifully contoured body perched just slightly above a set of incredible diamond turned twenty inch wheels, make this potentially the most visually stunning vehicle produced this decade.

The 2009 DBS better be pretty though, because it will set prospective buyers back between two hundred and seventy and three hundred thousand dollars, but just as with any Aston Martin, there is more to this car than just a pretty face…

Beneath the hood of this beautiful specimen sits one powerhouse of an engine – a 5.9 liter V12, with an outstanding five hundred and ten horses and a top speed of more than one hundred and ninety miles an hour.To reach 60 in this new DBS you should be targeting a civilised 4.3 seconds.

The DBS’s initial launch into the automotive world was just eighteen short months ago, its beauty and performance took the driving world by storm then and Aston Martin hasn’t changed a whole lot since the original – they didn’t have to.

New for the second incarnation are the diamond turned wheels which, aside from being absolutely stunning, manage to take an impressive four and a half pounds of weight off per wheel – that coupled with a portion of the body being made from carbon make this version almost two hundred pounds lighter than the DB9 which it is partially patterned after.

The 2009 version also has an option for two rear bucket seats where the original just had a modest amount of storage behind the front seats. Maybe Ashton Martin was thinking about the busy mom who has to play taxi, fetching children from school. Back in the real world, there are not so many average family oriented parents to splash on such extravagance.

For drivers, like myself, who would rather be immersed in their favorite music than hearing the roar of the massive 510 horsepower V12 engine rumbling beneath the hood, the 2009 DBS comes with an absolutely out of this world sound system – a ten speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system that is truly capable of making ears bleed should you have the desire.

The 2009 DBS still uses the space age form of entry that every one fell in love with from the original – the ECU or “Emotion Control Unit” in lieu of using the more traditional keyed form or automobile entry.

If you have more than a quarter of a million dollars to spend on your next vehicle and are still having doubts about the Aston Martin DBS, ask yourself this – if it was good enough for James Bond to use (and destroy) not once, but twice how could it not be good enough for you.

V10 Audi R8. The one to have

This R8 will surely cause controversy with the sister Lambo Gallardo as it moves Audi straight into the must have sports cars league.

The Audi team has really stepped up the latest version of their R8 to be viable competition with the other big boys on the circuit.  The 2010 model is super powerful – five hundred and twenty-five horsepower powerful, but is still quiet and controllable enough to actually be used on a regular basis unlike some of the Italian super-cars.

This ultra powerful version of the R8 is capable of flying from zero to sixty mph in less than four seconds, but what makes it an even better alternative to the Porches, Lamborghinis and Ferraris of the world is that the power it brings is so nicely complemented by the incredible handling that you experience behind the wheel.

How Much?

The price tag on the 2010 Audi R8 has jumped almost as much as the quality of the car and at nearly one hundred and fifty thousand dollars the price is another close point of comparison between the new R8 and the Porsche 911.R8 V10 has now the power punch to challenge the legendary 911, F430 and Gallardo.  Of course at one hundred and fifty thousand it is far from practical for even the wealthy, but this car is by far the most practical of any of the super-cars. R8's main attraction is the V10 engine which means those who liked the V8, will finally have their wish of the R8 unleashed.

The Look

As should be expected from a car with such a lofty price tag, the 2010 Audi R8 is beautiful both inside and out.The first R8 was good enough to earn car of the year status in some countries, an achievement not so many sports cars can boost about.  The 2010 Audi R8 is all sleek lines and smooth contours on the outside and beautifully spacious leather interior with seats that it’s hard not to feel comfortable in.

The 2010 Audi R8 is most likely the only one of the super-cars that has enough space to stow enough luggage for a week long holiday with nearly seven cubic feet of storage available, and the space that is occupied is loaded with features you’d be hard pressed to find in a car with a smaller price tag.

There are any number of options in order to accessorize or customize the new R8, but in reality you don’t really need any of them – the stock model comes complete with heated seats, a GPS navigation system, an incredible sound system, automatic air and a built in alarm.

The 2010 R8 is off the charts when it comes to power, handling and performance but it also gets incredibly high marks in both safety and design further cementing its place at the top of the list for anyone who wants to own a super-car but has needs for an automobile that can be driven every day.

The Attractiveness of Sports Cars

BMW Autos

Sports cars are performance automobiles that provide driving satisfaction and pleasure. They allow a person to engage in the best driving experience and be in touch directly with the highway or road, as diametrically as possible.

In the automobile industry where economy automobiles, “family sedans” and SUV’s dominate the field, sports cars definitely stand out.

These types of cars, for the skilled drivers, can give optimum performance on the road. Not all drivers are equally skilled, but to individuals who are capable of feeling and understanding the faint messages of these vehicles, they can indulge in a rewarding and satisfying driving experience since sports cars are intended to be driven fairly fast.

Due to this driving pleasure, many people are drawn to a sports car. This is just one of the many reasons why people like sports cars. Other reasons include:

1. Appearance. The aerodynamic design of a sports car makes it attractive to car fans. Although when you are making an automotive purchase, this should not be the principal or only reason to purchase that vehicle. Functionality should be the main consideration even though beauty will also enter into your decision.

2. Driving characteristics. While other cars are mainly designed for affordability and function, sports cars gives emphasis on performance and execution. The trait and condition of driving a sports car is an experience often unmatched.

Keeping in mind their very discriminating car drivers, sports cars easily out perform the road execution of other automobiles. Drivers can easily accelerate when required, hug turns, and have a certain driving management not provided by most vehicles.

3. Fun plus excitement. The driving qualities of a sports car are providing excitement and thrill.

One can spend hours talking about pleasurable experiences such as curve hugging while not taking one’s foot off the accelerator or zooming past slow moving traffic yet remaining in full control or talk about the feeling of satisfaction , and knowing that one is driving a car with superb engineering.

4. Duration and resale value. Each new vehicle depreciates in value the very second it is driven. However, sports cars will become more valuable as time passes, because of their above-mentioned qualities and are expected to become potential classics that will retain their value.

One does not need to make their car choice a statement, although if one chooses, the opportunity is right there. Owning a sports vehicle will make a statement about the owner’s personality.

Styling Tips for Sports Cars

BMW Automobiles

Are you planning to improve the aesthetic appearance of your car? Want to get that sporty look? Then here are some pointers that will help you style up your car.

What products to select from

When considering what options of setup you will do to your car, you should first keep in mind that there are a many different products being sold out there which claim superior performance and economical. But the reality is there are some good ones and many bad ones. Be picky when looking for car accessories and remember it is not a bad idea to look at the established brands before considering untested brands.

The wheels

One of the first things that a car enthusiast does when dressing up a car is to replace the existing wheels with custom made ones. But this is not just for looks since performance wheels and tires also enhance a car’s handling and performance. Considering between tall wheels and short ones will be the next step. Larger wheels get noticed more and improve the attractiveness of a car dramatically. Smaller wheels on the other hand have that vintage or retro look.

Racing Stickers

Applying sticker designs on the car hood or the other parts of the car body is one of the cheapest ways to alter the look of your car. Sticker art designs range from popular performance parts of manufacturers as well as those designed for rally and indy races. If you are capable of making your own stickers, it is important to get permission for copying a design as it may be copyrighted. If you are planning to put stickers on the hood, choose the kind that will not be damaged by the heat of the engine. Metallic foil stickers are perfect for car hoods.

Lowering Suspension

Lowering your car means making your car more stable when turning and giving it an aggressive and sporty look. Cars are not the only ones that have lowering kits, so if you have a pickup truck, chances are, there is a lowering kit made for your vehicle. Although having a lower ride means improved handling, the trade off is poorer ride quality since the car springs are stiffer and shorter.

These are some of the things that you can do to improve the look of your automobile. Your car is a representation of you so ideally you want it to look good. Of course, having a good looking car also means spending some serious cash. If this is what you like, then paying extra will not be a problem with you.

See this modified BMW M3 manual as an example of sports car styling.
