Not Been At Work Because Of The Snow?
A lot of the time it can be very hard to get into work because of the snow or something like that but the real question to ask is, do people just make excuses on why they cannot get in or are they really stuck in the snow?
If you have a smaller car or perhaps rely on the wonderful public transport you will know how difficult getting in can be in the snow, this is why a boss should actually not be cross if someone cannot get in because of this. so if someone like this is calling you up I wouldn’t bother shouting at them because the chances are, they cannot do anything about the weather.
Are there any excuses for the people with the bigger cars? There are simply no excuses at all for getting into work if you have a 4 by 4 unless of course the snow is very high, what is the likelihood of that. As well as this if you live around an hours walk away from the home why do you not simply walk in? I had to do this last week and there really isnt any excuses on why you cannot do this, unless of course you cannot walk in.
Of course you could always go after something like large van lease or you could find yourself in need of pickup lease when your car gets stuck in the snow!
So when it snows like it has been quite recently again I would suggest thinking very carefully about if you can get in or not. Not getting in means that your company are one person down and if you cannot work at home the chances are you are costing them a lot of money.
Of course if you cannot get in why not look at minibus lease.
Accidents In The Cold weather
It would certainly seem that a snow day is likely to cause a lot more accidents that a normal day, and this is down to all of the people that just go into work when they shouldnt. So why is it there are more and more accidents than there ever has been in the snow?
Well one of the big reasons is simply because we have seen some of the worst snow recorded in a very long time indeed but what is worse is the people on the roads and that really is the major point here.
The people were just not listening to the warnings on going slow, by the way slow doesn’t mean the normal 30mph on the smaller roads, we are talking 5-10 speeds just to make sure that you do not slip on the ice and crash into something. There are so many people out there that are driving all over the place and at high speeds and do not seem bothered if they get someome killed.
Although this isn’t always the cause of accidents it often is and if speeds were cut I am almost certain that the number of accidents would fall significantly.
The second reason why this is happening a lot is simply down to people being stupid. Make sure that if you do not feel you can drive in the snow, that you either walk or stay in. If you go out and do not really feel like you should be driving then you are just as bad as the people speeding! It is very hard and expensive to get a hold of bad credit car leasing and if you have crash on top of bad credit it will do you no favours at all.
If you do not feel that comfortable then go out and Luton van lease as you are likely to get across the roads a lot better. Of course you will not need to refrigerated van leasing!
Melting Snow Will Cause More Problems
The snow has and still is terrorising the country making it almost impossible for many people to make it into work. Many schools have been shut since the teachers cannot make it in, many accidents have occurred thanks to the ice and many people have fallen over breaking bones. The cold temperatures must also have made a difference when it comes to some of the older people, they must be very cold.
The snow is soon set to melt for the last time and with this comes further problems. One of the key problems comes when it melts as it leaves the roads and pavements in a huge state. Dirty cars have been driving over the roads and have made them a bit of a hell hole and the same goes for people walking on the pavements.
Potholes are going to be such a problem as you will see the bigger ones growing even bigger and new cracks forming in the road in the next few weeks. This is because once the ice melts the water will go underneath the tarmac through the existing cracks. This seems to work fine until the evening comes and it all freezes up. When water freezes it expands and with nowhere to go it will force the tarmac to expand which forms even bigger cracks. The traffic then drives over this and forces the tarmac to collapse on itself making the pothole larger and larger.
What can you do in the snow? One of the best things to do is travel in something like a 4 by 4 to make sure you are safe. Failing this you could transit van leasing or of course large van lease as this will allow you to travel a bit easier.
If you need to get into work as a group why not try minibus lease.
Get Ready for Winter Driving
With latest weather forecasts warning us in the UK that we can expect some snow how prepared are you for some real winter weather?
The long period of cold, snowy weather that we experienced early in 2009 highlighted how unprepared we in the U.K. are for true wintery conditions. Perhaps I shouldn’t generalize because people in the north of the British isles tend to fare better than their soft southern counterparts. Scotland tends to be better able to cope with intense wintery conditions as they experience some bad winter weather nearly every year.
One problem that arose early in 2009 was that gritting trucks ran out of road grit. It has been suggested that this was due to local authorities running out of money. But this is really due to poor resource planning. While the south can experience periods of intensely bad winter weather they tend to be shortlived. The prolonged period of five weeks of icy, snowy conditions meant that there wasn’t enough grit to last.
But what do they do in countries like Sweden and Norway where snow lays on the ground for most of the winter?
Driving on snow covered, icy roads is treacherous. Not only due to the slippery road surfaces but also as a result of poor visibility. Winter tyres are recommended.
In Norway and Sweden some road gritting is carried out but this is usually concentrated on busier road junctions. One you are off of the main roads you will find that you are driving on compacted snow. When driving on these road surfaces you must always travel slowly and never make any sudden movements.Overtaking is not a good idea in these dangerous driving conditions.
A set of winter tyres can be useful. The tyres contain some added silicone which helps them to remain flexible at low temperatures. They also tend to have a heavier tread pattern with fine lateral cuts which help the tyre to put as much surface as possible in contact with the ground.
Another possible option is to use snow chains but these are only of any use in snowy conditions and not very good for ice covered roads.Another useful option is studded tyres, which can be helpful on icy road surfaces.
