Right now there are a lot of manufacturers selling a wide range of luxury automobiles. Nissan offers the G35 as an entry level sport compact vehicle but it is called the Infiniti, guess they thought this would make them look more distinguished. Honda has Acura as its luxury line and offers a very interesting option with the Acura TL. The Mercedes Benz C Class Chiltons Manual is a great or rather one of the best entry level luxury sedans on the market. The all new redesigned Mercedes C class has hit the mark with consumers, this beautiful machine is probably the nicest looking car Mercedes has ever produced. All the usual high marks are given to the C class for safety, reliability, and performance but the interior is a little on the basic side and is not as luxurious as you the consumer would expect from Mercedes. The Mercedes C class retails new for thirty two thousand dollars for the basic upwards of fifty five thousand dollars for the top end model. But if you are going to buy a new 2009 Mercedes C class you should be aware that Mercedes is offering base invoice pricing if you negotiate with them at the dealership.

If you are going to buy a new model 2009 luxury car make sure you do not settle for anything more then the base invoice price. Every automaker in the world is suffering from the economic down turn and they all are trying to sell, sell, sell. Jap automobile manufacturer Nissan introduced a compact automobile called the 240SX to the northern US market in 1988.  This automobile was made to substitute the S12 model, which was going to be discontinued.  All versions of the 240SX that were available till the last were rolled off in 1998 had inline 4 engines with 2.4 liter capacity.  Of the ten years this two-door compact was manufactured, two generations were distinguished – the S13, made available for the 1989 to 1994 model years and the S14, from 1995 to 1998.  The second generation was based primarily on the S platform of Nissan, which was also the base for other Nissan vehicles like the Silvis and 180SX ( for the japanese market ) and the 200Sx ( for the EU market ).  All 240SX cars were made in the Kyushu, Japan plant of Nissan. 

The 1st generation of the 240SX had two different variants : the Zenki and Chuki.  These variants came in hot hatch and coupe body styles.  The hot hatch was offered in base, SE and LE trims, while the coupe came in base, SE and XE trims.  The body was styled with a front that is sloping and headlights that retract.  This set the 240SX apart from the Silvia, which had fixed headlights.  As for the 2 variants, the Zenki ( which literally means’early period’ ) was sold for the 1989 and 1990 model years.  The Chuki ( which means’middle period’ ) was available from 1991 to 1994 and was updated in terms of the exterior and engine upgrades.  A convertible body style of the 240SX was introduced to the northern US market.  This was the only available model available in 1994, which was equipped with a 4 speed automatic transmission. 

A complete redesigning of the first generation resulted to the second generation of the 240SX.  Only the coupe body style stayed, as the convertible and hatch styles were phased out in 1995.  This generation was also split into the Zenki and Kouki ( meaning’latter period’ ).  The Kouki period saw the 240SX having sharper features like the hood, projector headlights, front bumper and fenders.  The last of this model was manufactured in July of 1998.

It is assumed the jap automobile manufacturer Nissan produced the Nissan Altima to keep on one of the most successful lines in the firm’s history, the Nissan Bluebird, which started in 1957.  After the Bluebird was phased off, speculations were high on which line would replace the Bluebird, which many have claimed to be the Altima.  The Altima is positioned higher than another popular line, the Nissan Sentra, but lower than the Nissan Maxima apropos size, power, and luxury.  The Altima’s first markets are north America and the Middle East.  Other markets other than the 2 mentioned earlier also have the Altima, but know it as the Nissan Teana.  Altimas were first assembled and produced for the 1993 model year in 1992.  As of the moment, 2 Nissan plants in the U.  S.  make the Altima – the plants in Smyrna, Tennessee and Canton, Mississippi.  The Smyrna plant was the first to manufacture the vehicle, and the Canton plant only followed in 2004 to fill in high demand. 

the problem with the Altima is that there have many a large amount of producing flaws in both plants that have made Nissan do a number of safety recalls after only two years when the 1st Altima slipped off the Smyna plant.  Issues on defects still plague the Altima for as contemporary as 2008.  The engine utilized in all Altima models is the KA24DE I4 DOHC engine with 150 hp.  Transmission is either 4 gear automated or 5 speed manual.  The trim lines for the Altima are the XE ( base ), GXE ( mid-line ), SE ( sporty ), and the GLE ( luxury ).  The most distinguishing features of the different trims are manual windows for the XE, power windows for the GXE, mist lights and side skirts for the GXE.  Despite safety concerns, the Altima line is still being produced on its 4th generation.

Jap auto makers Nissan Motors produced a compact auto called the Nissan Sentra as early as 1982.  In actual fact this line was essentially the Nissan sunny that was rebadged for export.  So, the name’Sentra’ is only used outside Japan, while the name’Sunny’ is only known inside Japan.  In the U.  S.  market, the Nissan Sentra is the vehicle manufacturer’s line of compact cars.  A base model for the Sentra is presently priced at $15,000.  The posh mode meanwhile, fetches for a minimum of $21,000.  Through the generations, the Sentra has developed and gained lots of mass.  These days, it isn’t an entry-level automobile anymore, as this variation has been handed to the Nissan Versa.  The US EPA has rated the current Sentra generation as medium sized car, not a compact anymore, thanks to the volume of its interior.  The first generation of Maximas, supplied from 1983 to 1985 came in assorted body styles : 2-door sedan , 3-door hatchback , 3-door coupe, 4-door sedan , and 5-door station lorry .  Its engine was either a 1.5L E15 ( s ) I4, a 1.6L E16 ( s ) I4, or a1.7L CD17 diesel I4.  Transmissions included 4 gear or 5 speed manual or 3-speed automatic. 

since then, five generations of Sentras have been introduced to the general public : the second or the B12 generation ( from 1985 to 1990 ) ; the 3rd or B13 generation ( from 1991 to 1994 ), which introduced the sporty 2-door SE-R model ; the fourth B14 generation ( 1995-1999 ) which introduced numerous trims : Base, XE, GXE, GLE, SE and SE Limited ; the fifth or generation ( 2000-2006 ) which introduced torsion beam setup instead of an independent rear suspension.  The current sixth or B16 generation has been available since 2007.  Introduced at the north american international vehicle Show in Jan of 2006, this was the Sentra generation that was graded by the US EPA as a mid-size car.  Certain cultured and technol9ogiical advances will be introduced in its 2010 model.

The Renault-Nissan Alliance has formed a partnership with the Energy Market Authority (EMA), the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and the Economic Development Board (EDB) of Singapore to explore the development of Zero Emission Vehicles Program. 

Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in the presence of Lawrence Wong, CE of EMA, Dr Beh Swan Gin, MD of EDB, Yam Ah Mee, CE of LTA and Thierry Koskas, Renault Electric Vehicles Programme Director, the organizations have agreed to set up working team of representatives and promote introduction and expansion of electric vehicles in Singapore. 

“EV development is an exciting new area particularly relevant to the Singapore context. Singapore is well-positioned for the deployment of EVs due to our relative small size, urban environment, robust electrical grid and IT infrastructure,” said Mr Lawrence Wong, Chief Executive, EMA. 

“Renault and Nissan aim to become leading brands in zero emission vehicles. Singapore is for us a key priority, as the geography of the country and the focus on environment issues make fast and strong development of electric cars,” said Thierry Koskas Renault electric vehicles programme director. We are eager to working closely with all partners involved to make this project successful.”  

 The Renault-Nissan Alliance has begun ZEV initiatives in Kanagawa Prefecture and Yokohama in Japan, as well as in Israel, Denmark, Portugal, Monaco, the UK, France, Switzerland, Ireland, China and Hong Kong. In the United States, the Alliance is exploring ways to promote zero-emission mobility and the development of an EV infrastructure in the State of Tennessee, the State of Oregon, Sonoma County and San Diego in California, and Tucson, Phoenix Arizona, Seattle in Washington and Raleigh in North Carolina. 

The Alliance has formed partnerships with 26 governments, cities and other organizations to advance the deployment of EVs worldwide. 

The Renault-Nissan Alliance The Renault Nissan Alliance, founded in 1999, sold 6,090,304 vehicles in 2008. The objective of the Alliance is to rank among the world’s top three vehicle manufacturers in terms of quality, technology and profitability. 

EV Taskforce 

To spearhead Electric Vehicle (EV) test-bedding and infrastructure development in Singapore, a multi-agency taskforce chaired by Energy Market Authority (EMA) and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) has been set up with members comprising the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Economic Development Board (EDB), National Environment Agency (NEA), Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources (MEWR) and Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI).  

The EV taskforce was set up to assess the benefits and applicability of adopting EVs in Singapore. It will draw up the overall plan of EV test-bedding and evaluation of the environmental and economic benefits, with a view of a potential larger scale adoption of EVs in future. The taskforce will work with key industry players to examine infrastructural requirements, policy requirements and new business models arising from EVs, as well as identify industry development and R&D opportunities. It will also look into educating the public on EV technology though a nationwide EV sharing programme or through corporate fleets. Funding for interested parties to develop infrastructure and buy electric vehicle will set aside during the test-bedding process.  

Energy Market Authority Energy Market Authority (EMA) was formed on 1 April 2001 as a statutory board under the Ministry of Trade and Industry to forge a secure, long-term electricity industry that thrives on healthy competition. We have been creating new market sturctures to promote competition in the electricity and gas industries. EMA will also continue to promote cost-competitive outcomes for consumers by ensuring a level playing field for competition within the electricity and gas. As co-chair of the EV Taskforce, EMA endeavors to establish strategic partners for test bedding, identify power grid regulation/licensing for EV charging systems and develop relevant codes and standards. Land Transport Authority a statutory board under the Ministry of Transport (LTA). spearheads land transport developments is planned by the LTA and so are long-term transport needs. While serving commuters by providing an integrated and user-friendly transport system, LTA addresses wider issues such as sustainable development, economic growth, and community life. As a co-chair of the EV Taskforce, LTA helps ensure that relevant regulations, standards and infrastructure are in place. LTA looks forward to working with leading companies such as Renault-Nissan to develop innovative transport solutions. 

Economic Development Board EDB is the lead government agency for planning and executing strategies to enhance Singapore’s position as a global business centre and grow the Singapore economy. In so doing, we attract economic opportunities and jobs for the people of Singapore, and help shape our country's economic future. EDB’s role in the MOU is to work with industry partners like Renault-Nissan to jointly identify industry development opportunities such as manufacturing and R&D. The MOU is aligned with EDB’s positioning of Singapore as a “Living Laboratory” where leading-edge urban mobility solutions, such as electric vehicles, are tested, developed and exported to the rest of the world.

Nissan are planning on introducing their new van, the NV200, at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show. Nissan have said that the NV200 van has been designed from stage 1 for commercial and people carrier uses.

Nissan have created 3 different versions of the NV200, the Cargo, designed to carry as much as possible. There is the Combi version which is designed to carry both people and goods, and then finally there is the more plush version which can carry up to 7 passengers.

The NV200 is just over 173 inches long and has sliding doors, a 78.8 inch loading bay with side hinged back doors. The Cargo version can carry a maximum volume of 144.7 cubic feet. Nissan have said that the cargo version can carry 2 European standard sized pallets.

As for the Combi version, Nissan have said that the seats are non-removeable, however, they can fold away to allow you to carry extra goods. The passenger version comes with a top hinged tailgate, as does the Combi version, however, the Combi also comes with an option of either sliding or hinged side doors.

There are 2 available engines that you can choose from, the Nissan Micra’s 1.6 litre aluminium gasoline engine, or a Renault 1.5 litre diesel engine.

The inside of the NV200 comes with a few good features including a secret compartment in the top of the glove box to store electrical items and keep them out of view, although the compartment is not very secret if they tell everyone. There is also an optional rear view parking camera available which is said to be a first for this van market.

The NV200 is planned for release in its home country, Japan, around summer time and then set for around Europe in autumn, as for North America, Nissan have not yet comfirmed that it will be going on sale there.

However, due to the current global recession, will the NV200 be able to build up enough sales? Certainly people are looking less at buying new vans and cars at the moment, although, maybe the NV200 will prove to be a sucess in the van leasing market.
