The Scoop

Being the last of the luxury automakers to roll out a convertible model gave Lexus the benefit of learning from its competitors’ experiences. In 20 seconds you have your Lexus converted.  The motion of opening or closing the convertible top doesn’t make the same thumping sounds as other comparable droptops.  The smooth agility of the convertible top’s motion can be attributed to a complicated system that contains fifteen electric motors and 37 motion sensors that monitor movement of the top. Lexus claims the IS 250C is the quickest in converting the top for its type.  As a bonus, Lexus’ new droptop boasts the most accessible trunk space of any convertible in its class as well as easy rear seat access and generous accommodation for rear passengers.

In terms of body, it’s all a matter of style.  While some view the IS 250C’s sleek curves as stylish and sporty, others argue that the rear of the vehicle looks large and inflated.Models from the same range typically share a lot of body panels. Not so for the IS250C where only the hood is shared with the sedan.  All other body panels were created specifically for the IS 250C.

From an engineering perspective one of the challenges was to provide an enjoyable driving experience with the top up or down.  The IS 250C has been engineered to put forward minimal wind turbulence when driving with the top down and extensive revisions to the body structure and suspension impart the right degree of torsional rigidity to ensure a level of ride comfort appropriate for a Lexus. Convertibles always give designers the burden of maintaining structural rigidity. Lexus has taken on the task by adding two major cross beams.Under the rear seat aswell as behind its headrests are the cross beams.

Two model grades are available – SE-I and SE-L – of which the cheaper SE-I is estimated to be the leading seller. At $39 660 you can purchase the 250 SE not forgeting the wonderful dealer service which is priceless.

Costs Effective Cars

People are just fascinated with huge vehicles, even if they are struggling with money they still go out and get one. But as times change and as we get caught up in probably one of the worst economic crisis situations we have been in for decades, we have to look at cutting back

But recently car insurers Liverpool Victoria revealed that over 19% of drivers have chosen to downgrade their vehicles. There are a few reasons as to why people are downgrading so let’s take a quick glance at the most obvious.

1) The cost of petrol is forever on the increase, so people want to save and downgrade to a smaller engine.
2) Bigger engine vehicles are going to cost a lot more to tax and to insure.
3) To service or get a new wheel on an expensive motor it will end up costing a bomb.

People are in love with cars, it’s now become a type of tradition that people have to buy new cars every year or so. But I feel that now is the time to cut back simply because we are in the midst of a huge credit crunch. Most people get their new cars on finance, so even that is harder to achieve.

Car garages are panicking because they just cannot shift their big vehicles anymore. There is no way that even the richest person can just pop out a buy a Mazda or buy a Lexus. We all just have to be strong and tighten our belts and wait for the economic downturn to get better.
