It was in the year 1998 that the now famous Denali nameplate was first used for the luxury version of GMC Yukon. Several features were then added to Yukon Denali to distinguish it from its base version. Till date Yukon Denali remains the most popular vehicle in the Denali line. It borrows its name aptly from the highest mountain peak in North America, Mount McKinley also called as Denali.
Initially the Denali Yukon even shared its design with Cadillac Escade. Both went on to be re-designed only in 2001.The trademark nameplate was also assigned to GMC Sierra and Envoy and a more sophisticated version, Yukon XL Denali was also launched. A more enhanced and extended version of Yukon Denali, Yukon XL Denali was also launched and the Yukon Denali was re-designed after a very long time.
Its safety features are also remarkable. Being given a five star marking, it represents safety in its highest level. The entire Denali line has a honeycomb pattern grille designed on them which has now become their trademark.
The features that are included in this line are many and are of state of the art quality . The Denali line has won several awards. Yukon Denali has been voted as the best large utility vehicle by the Motor week Drivers Choice Awards, 2008.Sierra Denali has been voted as having the best resale value by Auto Leasing Guide 2008.
Coming to the technical aspects the Denali line is characterized by their powerful engines. The Sierra Denali, Yukon Denali and Yukon Denali XL have 6.2L V8 engines delivering 403 hp ,366 hp and 366 hp respectively and Envoy Denali has 5.3L V8 engines delivering 300hp.ukon and Yukon Denali can take in eight people and the Sierra Denali and Envoy Denali have a capacity of five.
The styling along with the comfort makes the Denali line stand out from its contemporaries. Seen as the ultimate status symbol and an expression of perfect engineering this is one line of cars which everyone wants to get their hands on!!
