Living in Strathblane means that any car that happens to find itself on my driveway is in for a lot, whether I’m heading into town for work or going for a day in the glorious countryside. I’ve had my eye on a Honda S2000 for a while now, and when my current car failed its MOT it seemed like fate was pointing me in the direction of the alluring convertible.

A recent vacation break to Miami almost ended in disaster when the police stopped our car due to a broken tail light.

My girlfriend and I had decided on a last minute bargain package deal to Florida. We’d found a fantastic last minute fly-drive deal that gave us 7 nights to explore the gulf coast and theme parks of Orlando before the busy summer season.

We flew from Gatwick to Orlando airport and went straight to the car hire desk to collect the keys to our car. We’d pre-booked our first two nights in the Clarion Hotel and a hire car for the duration of our stay. Our plan was to move on to another hotel if we felt like it, but stay put if we were happy with the hotel and what was available on our doorstep.

After resting up for the first night and enjoying a fantastic meal in the hotel restaurant we spent the following day sightseeing and shopping. We ended an excellent day with a fantastic meal at a seafood restaurant that provided some excellent entertainment along with great service. It was on our return journey to our hotel that things began to go downhill.

When we got onto the highway a police car pulled in behind us and inidicated that we should stop. The police officer told me that one of the tail lights was out and asked me to get out of the car to have a look, which I did. I explained that it was a rental car and that we had just arrived in the country only yesterday. The friendly police officer suggested that I pop the trunk and he would check the lamp, which was very king of him.

He shone his torch into the boot and there were clearly some traces of what looked like a white powder covering the trunk lining. The police officer’s manner changed immediately and he returned to his vehicle where he spent some time communicating on his radio. It was only a couple of minutes before a second police car arrived with two police officers inside. We were told that we needed to accompany them to the police station to answer some questions.

It was at the police station that it became clear that they didn’t really believe our story and they suspected that we were in fact drug dealers. My girlfriend was understandably very upset by the whole experience. It took no less than nine hours for the police to finally corroborate our story and verify who we were.

Luckily people at the car hire firm were still working at that late hour and they were able to provide police with full details of the previous person who had driven the hire car. I’ve no idea if the police ever managed to catch up with the individual responsible for carrying drugs in the boot of the car.

Clean air promotes better fuel combustion in each cylinder than dusty, dirty or smoggy air does. Pressurized air contains more Oxygen in it than straight air. But you get the picture.

  5. The Exhaust Sytem. There are ways you can even tweak the exhaust system to produce better mileage. You can do things like oversize the exhaust pipes, have a larger catalytic converter installed, buy a tailpipe turbocharger and install it, or even capture and utilize the heat coming off the exhaust system to produce electricity, all focused on improving gas mileage, emissions, and overall engine power.

It is a shame that only a small number of people will get the opportunity to drive a Used Jaguar in their all too brief lifetimes. The Scoop

The highly anticipated official unveiling of the Aston Martin One-77 took place at the 2009 Geneva auto show in March.  The principles of front-engine/rear-drive touring-car racers are what the One-77’s architecture is based on according to Aston Martin.  As such, this fine piece of machinery features a carbon-fiber monocoque and a double-wishbone suspension that features inboard, pushrod-actuated dynamic shocks.   As if that weren’t enough, final suspension tuning is to be executed at the time the vehicle is physically delivered to the new owner.vw dealership in Pretoria. According to Aston, special consideration was given to the aesthetic aspect of each mechanical component instead of only to its function as is typically the case.

Aluminum design has been put to very good use on the One-77.  The grill, though impressive, doesn’t overpower the body.huge are the rear fenders not forgeting the 20 inch wheels.  Both the headlights and taillights feature impressively designed details, and the rear diffuser is something to contend with.

Powering the Aston Martin One-77 is a 7.3-liter version of the already-impressive 5.9-liter V-12 found in other Astons.  The engine is still naturally aspirated but with dry-sump lubrication allowing it to be mounted almost four inches lower in the chassis than in any previous V-12–powered road-driving Aston.  Because the engine sits lower in the chassis it means that, for the first time on any Aston, the hood is lower than the fenders. Does that point to a new design direction for the brand?
