Suspension

The rear suspension can consist of several arrangements, including dual shocks, traditional mono-shock suspensions or soft-tail style suspensions. The front fork holds the front wheel and allows the rider to steer. The most critical part for steering of all the motorcycle parts is the front fork.

Most of us have to keep an eye on our outgoings nowadays and one fairly big expense is running our cars. The price of fuel seems to be forever going up and so there are a few rules we can all follow to help save on fuel.

One thing a lot of us are guilty of is putting our foot down when we accelerate. If you drive an automatic it is best to accelerate at a fairly moderate speed to give the transmission time to shift to the higher gears. If you accelerate away and brake right away this is a big waste of fuel.

A good way to save petrol is simply reduce your speed. As the speed increases fuel decreases!

Under inflated tyres are very often overlooked. If they are not set at the correct pressure they will need to use more petrol to keep the car moving. Get yourself a good tyre gauge and check the tyres at least once every month. One tip is to check them when they are cold because driving the car warms up the tyres and also the air inside which increases pressure and gives a falsely high reading.

Check your air filter because one which is dirty will restrict the flow of air to the engine which will affect performance and also economy.
 
New wheels and tyres may look good and they can improve the way that a car handles, but if they are wider they could create more resistance and increase petrol consumption. So it is worth considering keeping the old ones for long road trips which will give you a far smoother ride and far better economy.

Honda hybrid models became available on the market in 1990’s and they were introduced in the United States in 1999. Honda Insight opened the road, quickly followed by the response of Toyota with the appearance of the Prius. Apparently Honda hybrid models are not sold as well as the Toyota ones although in the United States Honda is the undisputed leader. Honda Civic hybrid set the sales record in 2004. The number of Honda hybrid models sold on the market since 1999 when Insight was released until 2006 surpassed that of 100,000. Most of these models have found owners in the United States, next come Japan, Europe and Canada.

The Accord Honda hybrid saw the market daylight in 2004. This way people could enjoy the Honda hybrid models more extensively and with a greater variety. It was the American Honda that got the laurels of this success, as the Accord became a market hit. This particular model has 255 horse power, it is a V-6 car and it reduces the fuel consume significantly.

The Civic Honda hybrid was launched in 2002 and it was equipped with an integrated motor assist system that proved magic in terms of lowering fuel consume. This was the Honda hybrid to become the Car of the Year in North America, and its most praised features consisted not only in the design but also in the handling easiness. 

Going to the first Honda hybrid, the Insight was also fuel efficient and it took the lead in the car sales for about six years. It has been estimated that about a tank of 10 gallons can last for somewhere between six and seven hundred miles. The Honda Insight Hybrid is still saught out by folk wanting to buy a used hybrid vehicle.

Therefore, like any other hybrid model, the Honda hybrid models are also very environmentally friendly. They release significantly less emissions, thus contributing to preserving a cleaner urban environment. If more hybrids entered the market, there would also be a drop in the number of people who suffer from respiratory ailments. The only inconvenience that Honda hybrid vehicles and other companies’ designs have in common is that the batteries are toxic for the environment. When playing the new Grand Turismo, I really do have to say how awsome the cars look compared to their reall counterparts. When playing these types of games i could really go for one of the top of the range cars that I am racing with. However, when you really think about it, are they affordable?

Are these brilliant graphics put into the game for playabilty or just so you can really see how good these cars are? In short yes, numerous games get a lot of their funding from advertising in game! it is truly amazing how you can pick from so many different car names as well as choose the unique colour for you. In other words you can look at what car you fancy buying and the dream colour without even having to leave the safety of your living room. Fantastic!

If you have been looking at electric scooters and trying to decide which one would be right for you, then there are a few questions you may want to consider. Are you going to use it for leisure or to commute to and from work? How far are you going to be traveling? Another thing to consider before you purchase an electric scooter is the climate. If it is sunny and warm pretty much any one of the electric scooters would work for you. If you are stranded in the rain, then most manufactures say it is fine to go ahead and ride the scooter back home if you have no other option. Most of the motors are sealed and a little rain should not hurt them but stay out of the rain if possible. Also keep in mind that both extreme heat and extreme cold may reduce the scooters range.

There is a lot of information about vegetable oil and how it is made, its use from the time it is processed to the time it is considered as a waste product. Usually the point it becomes a waste product is when it leaves the fryer. But is that the end of its serviceable life some say no there is an increasing interest to use this waste oil as fuel, biodiesel and biofuel.

How is waste vegetable oil or (WVO) made into fuel? First of all, this needs to be done at room temperature at about 70 degrees Farenheit – add some sodium hydroxide (lye), methanol (heet), and vegetable oil. Adding these three ingredients together in correct quantities and mix them until they are completely blended. At this point, you let the mixture settle and it will separate into layers where the bottom layer will be the glycerin and the top layer the biodiesel.

The process mentioned above was with pure oil, but what about the oil and grease from fryers and grills, what should be done when you have old oil or isn’t very clean? Well at the start of the process you need to filter the oil there are many ways to do this Bag filters are the easiest, cheapest and slowest processing tool that you have other than strait settling to process WVO . Oil will run through a 100 micron filter bag at 2-5 gallons per minute however, if the oil is dirty or just creamy the flow rate will deteriorate rapidly . Pre-heating oil helps as does larger/longer filter bags. You can use filter bags after settling, but the best advise is to use the centrifuge to get more precision process.

Cartridge WVO filters, tee strainers ECT, should be used only with heated oil or heating of the filter.  Waxy precipitates in cool oil quickly clog cartridge filters and no amount of pressure will resolve this issue.  Reserve cartridge filters for final polishing/filtering at transfer into the vehicle or very low volume/emergency use.   Any mechanical cartridge filter will require an amount of pressure to work, finding an appropriate pump, plumbing and pressure relief system can be difficult and large spills are possible.

Another way is to use what I call “Forced Settling” WVO centrifuges can clean WVO to sub micron levels as well as removing heavier liquid contaminants such as water.  If you are looking at having to deal with hundreds of gallons or more, a centrifuge is your only solution.

You probably don’t stop to think about it, but all fuels have a shelf life that depends on their chemical composition and storage conditions. The chemical stability of biodiesel depends on the oil from which it was derived. Biodiesel from oils that naturally contain the antioxidant tocopherol or vitamin E (e.g., rapeseed oil) remain usable longer than biodiesel from other types of vegetable oils. Stability is noticeably diminished after 10 days and the fuel may be unusable after 2 months. Temperature also affects fuel stability in that excessive temperatures may denature the fuel.
